About Us

PaavanaGanga was the brainchild of Pavan Muddanna, a young and dynamic Entrepreneur, who, while staying in the United States of America, had seen the benefits of Natural Farming. With this vision, he moved back to India, his motherland, and started Natural Farming on a small scale in his ancestral property to provide chemical free fruits and vegetables to the society. Strict farming guidelines are followed to enhance the productivity and fitness of agro-ecosystem, including soil organisms, plants and livestock. We also practice Hydroponics Technology for enriching nutrients for livestock feeds.

Temperate Climate

Situated about 23 kilometers from Bangalore City, our 6 acres agricultural plot is based on Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF). It's a one stop farming solution for all your family needs. Started in August 2019, we are based on Natural Farming with main focus on Horticultural Crops. An emphasis is also given to maintain organic integrity of the crops throughout its lifecycle.

Chemical Free Land

Earlier my Grandparents used to grow Ragi, Paddy, Jowar and other cereals with the support of more than 10 cattle's owned by them. As a result of this, the entire land has been enriched with cow dung & cow urine which helped to naturally gain the fertility of the soil and the land is free from any form of chemical usage. As per the soil test report conducted in September 2019, NPK factors are at their original level without the disturbance generally caused by the use of chemicals.

ZBNF based Crops

Banana (Yellakki), Guava (Taiwan Pink & Allahabad Safade), Golden Custard Apple (Seethaphalla), Butter Fruit (Avocado), Mango (Gujurat Kesari) and Jackfruit (Halasu). Also planted are Drumsticks (Nugge), Plum (Nerale), Teak (Thega), Sandalwood (Srigandha), Melia Dubia (Hebbevu), Coconut, Arecanut, Vegetables and Flowering Plants.

Return on Investment

We strive to educate the local farmers on the benefits of ZBNF, reduce soil degradation and erosion. In doing so, the farmers learn to maintain long-term soil fertility, maintain biological diversity within the system. We are slowly moving the local farmers to rely on renewable resources in locally organized agricultural systems.

Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF)

Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) is a farming practice that believes in natural growth of crops without adding any fertilizers and pesticides or any other foreign elements. The term "Zero Budget" refers to the zero net cost of production of all crops (inter crops, border crops, multi crops). The inputs used for seed treatments and other inoculations are locally available in the form of cow dung and cow urine.

Bijamrutha - Take 5 Kg Desi cow dung in a cloth and bind it by tape. Hang this in the 20 Liter water up to 12 hours. Take one liter water and add 50 gm lime in it, let it settle for a night. Then next morning, squeeze this bundle of the cow dung in that water thrice continuously, so that all essence of cow dung will accumulate in that water. Then add a handful of soil in that water solution and stir it well. Then add 5 liter Desi cow urine in that solution & add the lime water and stir it well.

Jeevamrutha - It is composed of the cow-dung (20 kg), cow urine (10 liter), Jaggery (2 kg) and dicot flour (2 kg) and is applied to the crops with each Irrigation cycle OR directly to the crops. It provides nutrients, but most importantly, acts as a catalytic agent that promotes the activity of microorganisms in the soil, as well as increases earthworm activity. Jeevamrutha also helps to prevent fungal and bacterial plant diseases. Jeevamrutha is only needed for the first 3 years of the transition, after which the system becomes self-sustaining.

Mulching - It could be done by soil mulch, straw mulch or live mulch. It conserves soil moisture, by reducing evaporation.

Waaphasa - The irrigation should be reduced and irrigation should be practiced only at noon, in alternate furrows. Palekar challenges the idea that plant roots need a lot of water, in-fact, what roots need is water vapour, and therefore, Whapasa is the condition where there exist both air molecules and water molecules present in the soil.

Father of ZBNF

Padma Shri Awardee, Sh. Subash Palekar, considered as the father of ZBNF, has provided the four important non-negotiable guidelines: Bijamrutha, Jeevamrutha, Mulching, and Waaphasa. (vist www.spnfhp.nic.in for more details)

He also advocates using Agnihastra, Bhramhastra, Neemhastra for ZBNF.

Agnihastra, Bhramhastra, Neemhastra

Agnihastra - It is composed of 10 liter Desi Cow Urine and 1 Kg Tobacco, 500 grams of Green Chili, 500 grams of Local Garlic, 5 Kg Neem leaves pulp (crushed in urine). It is effective against the pests like Leaf Roller, Stem Borer, Fruit borer, Pod borer.

Bhramhastra - It is prepared by neem leaves, custard apple leaves, lantern camellia leaves, guava leaves, pomegranate leaves, papaya leaves and white dhatura leaves crushed and boiled in urine. It is used to control all of the sucking pests, pod borer, fruit borer etc. For spraying, 2 liter Brahmastra is taken in 100 liter water.

Neemhastra - It is made up of Desi cow urine (5 liter), cow dung (5 kg) and neem leaves and neem pulp (5kg) fermented for 24 hrs. It is used for sucking pests & Mealy Bug.

At PaavanaGanga Farms, we earnestly follow these guidelines.

Thus, we can slowly move from Terra Nullius (Dead Earth) to Terra Madre (Mother Earth)....

Our Produce

PaavanaGanga Farms is a Horticulture based Agro-Forestry farm. Paramount care is given to maintain vital qualities of our produce at all stages. Since PaavanaGanga Farms incorporates ZBNF model of cultivation, the input cost is considerably less and ZBNF crops also helps in retaining soil fertility and is climate change resilient.
